A Review of the SureFire E2D Defender Flashlight

The SureFire E2D LED Defender flashlight is a compact model that fits easily in the palm of your hand. In terms of flashlight specs, it features a two-stage solid state LED that claims to generate six times the output of an average two D-cell flashlight. Official output at high is 120 lumens. It’s low setting generates 5 lumens.

Another distinguishing feature of this flashlight is its use of a strike bezel on both ends of the body. Should the 120 lumens not be sufficient enough to deter an attacker, you can use either end of the flashlight as a last line of defense. Overall, these features make this flashlight a very attractive option for people on the go.

The body is machined out of an aerospace quality aluminum. The finish is an anodized matte black. O-rings are used throughout to ensure water resistance. There’s checkering around the grip area and a pocket clip is included. The batteries (2x 123A lithiums) can easily be replaced by removing the bezel. Runtime comes in a bit over 70 minutes.

Let’s talk about those fancy defensive bezels. The teeth on these bezels are sharp. Not knife sharp, mind you but I would say they’re screwdriver sharp. Be very careful when using this flashlight. If you’re just fooling around, you can easily injure people (including yourself) with this flashlight.

If you really want to learn how to use this light properly, you might want to take some defensive courses. In the hands of an inexperienced user, this flashlight could be turned against them during a fight.

I had one friend who kept a machete in his home for self defense. When a robber came to his house, the crook snatched the machete from my friends hand and used it against him. How do I know this story? Well, my friend rushed to my house for medical attention. There was a long blood trail from his house to mine. Not a pretty sight.

Anyways, back to the flashlight, the body has a very hard anodized finish. The light is set under a domed Pyrex lens. The switch is set at the end. Giving it a gentle press will reward you with some temporary light. Unscrewing one turn will lock out the flashlight from accidental activation. I don’t see this as a bit unnecessary since the bezel around the switch already does a good job of preventing accidental activation. There are holes in the bezel so it’s possible to attach a lanyard type device.

In use, this is a very bright flashlight. Not only is it bright but it also gets very hot. In extended use, it can get hot enough to melt plastic fabric. You don’t want this left on in your pocket if you value the skin on your legs.

Overall, SureFire has manufactured a solid flashlight. I find it to be the perfect size, durable, and extremely bright. The addition of the front and rear bezels adds further value to an already nice setup. Just don’t try to take it on an airplane. If your idea of the perfect flashlight is something that’s easy to carry, extremely bright and durable, you should put this model at the top of your list.

Excuses Potential Hostesses Make For Not Hosting a Party

Unless you’re a rare exception, as a direct sales consultant in the home party plan business, you’ve experienced your share of excuses from potential party hostesses. As soon as you pose the question, “Do you want to host a show?” they launch into a gazillion reasons why they don’t. Honestly, if someone says they just don’t like to host parties, that it’s just not something they enjoy, I’m okay with that. But most ladies feel it’s necessary to come up with a million other excuses that they can’t host a party of their own.

Nobody likes to beg, so most of us don’t press the issue. And though I do believe that too much pressure drives people away (and we don’t want that!), come on. Having home parties is fun and a great way to earn free products! As consultants, it’s our job to let people know how much fun, how lucrative, and how easy hosting a party can be!

Here are a few common excuses and what we can counter them with to make potential hostesses think twice.

“My house isn’t big enough.”

I once talked to someone who didn’t want to host a show because she was embarrassed of her home. Whether it was just too small, too messy or dirty, I don’t know. But if someone truly doesn’t feel comfortable hosting a show in their own home, there are a couple alternatives. If you, as the consultant, are willing to open up your home, the potential hostess might jump at the chance to host a party. This would also be easier for you, as you could set up at your leisure and not need to haul your product to another location.

Another alternative is hosting the show at a local restaurant. Of course, you would need to check with the restaurant first and choose somewhere with sufficient space. But there are many restaurants willing to accommodate a large party like this.

One final option is to host a work party in the lunchroom. Again, you’ll need to have this okayed by the boss, but I know many consultants who regularly schedule work parties with no problem at all.

“My husband doesn’t like me to have parties.”

Okay, so telling her to go against her husband and have a party anyway just wouldn’t be right. But, if it’s a matter of him not wanting his home disrupted, you can suggest having it somewhere else, as pointed out above. If it’s because he thinks she’ll need to spend extra money, encourage her to let him know that this is an excellent way to get free products. Ask your potential hostess if she would be willing to give her husband your business card and have him call you with any questions or concerns he has.

“I don’t know who I’d invite.”

I’ve found this to be a common excuse. But if you ask your potential hostess to start writing down names, such as family members, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and school moms, she’ll likely discover there are many more people she can invite than she first thought. If she really has trouble coming up with a guest list, suggest co-hosting a show with a family member or friend and combine their efforts to create a larger party and, ultimately, produce greater sales totals.

You may encounter other excuses, both valid and wishy-washy. Once you understand the reasons they are balking at the idea of hosting a party, gently countering those excuses with a couple of suggestions may just be what your potential hostess needs to be convinced that hosting a show is not only possible, it will be a success, too.

Chris Reeve Knives Sebenza Review

Chris Reeve Knives have an excellent reputation for overall quality. Their prices are a bit high but that hasn’t stopped customers from keeping these knives in short supply. I going to review one of the most popular lines from Chris Reeve Knives, the Sebenza.

Before going further, I’d like to give you quick rundown on the Chris Reeve story. Christopher Stanley Reeve was born on December 4, 1953 in Durban, South Africa. His profession was tool and die making.

As a youth, he raced motorcycles. Since he didn’t have corporate sponsors, much of the work on his bike was done by himself.

In 1989, he and his wife moved to Boise, ID so he could pursue more interesting business opportunities. His first knife was an all metal model that was resistant to climate change.

Now back to the Sebenza. The Sebenza has an integral side-lock design. This means that one side of the handle is used to lock the blade when it’s extended. In everyday use, I found this mechanism locked the blade in place like a bank vault. Compared to other, cheaper knives, the blade on the Chris Reeve felt solid like a fixed blade model.

The blade is made out of state of the art S30V that has been stonewashed. This steel has great edge holding abilities and the finish is well suited for this type of steel. Be very careful when you first get your Sebenza. The blade has been thoroughly sharpened at the factory and it’s very sharp. It’s much sharper than some of the other production folders that I’ve received.

The handle is made out of bead blasted titanium. It feels really comfortable in my hand and I have no fears of this handle slipping out of my hand. This knife has a tip up design. This means that when have your knife clipped to your pocket, the tip of the blade will be pointed up. Many people prefer this method because they feel they can access the knife quicker. But in the end, it’s all a matter of personal preference. There’s no right or wrong way.

In addition, a lanyard is attached at the end of the handle. Some lanyard snobs might scoff at this particular design but I found it made removing the knife from my pocket a little bit easier.

The action of the blade moving out of the handle was silky smooth. You don’t want it so smooth that it opens up while it’s still in your pocket. The Sebenza is easy to access without becoming a safety hazard. You can thank the phosphor-bronze washers for doing their job.

When you get your Sebenza, it will come in a white box with the Chris Reeve Sticker. Inside will be your knife, a certificate, and an allen wrench so you can disassemble your knife for cleaning and lubing.

Overall, this is great folding knife. Technically, it’s a production folding knife but the quality matches that of any fine custom folder. The model I reviewed was the large left handed model with dual blue thumb lugs. There are numerous different models available. Some have complicated graphics and others have exotic inlays in the handle. If your tastes include damascus blades, Chris Reeve offers that option as well. If you’re interested in a knife that’s highly functional and beautiful, the Chris Reeve Sebenza will do the job rather nicely.

Revitol - Customer Review of Revitol Stretch Mark Cream

You might be wondering “What’s so great about Revitol Stretch Mark Cream?” Well, let me tell you.

Revitol reduces the appearance of stretch marks and prevents the skin disruption that causes stretch marks. Women have been dealing with cosmetic issues stemming from gender for thousands of years. Stretch marks are at the top of the list of women’s complaints regarding their skin. Revitol addresses this problem!

Stretch marks may be short and slightly pink and fade in time to a white or silver color. They can also be big red itchy scars that just do not want to fade at all. Finally, there is a cream that does a lot more than moisturize the skin. Revitol is an innovative breakthrough in women’s skin care.

When used during pregnancy, Revitol has been proven to prevent stretch marks from forming. When used on existing striae, Retinol helps to diminish their appearance.

These are both great things, but what is so special about that? Hasn’t this been a claim made by more than one company?

Until recently, there were no companies that were able to offer honest, dramatic changes like those of the makers of Revitol. Cocoa butter does help by keeping skin moist and soft, but it does not show the same effect as Revitol.

The combination of Revitol’s natural ingredients assist in rejuvenating skin cells and keeping skin healthy. In the process, stretch marks are diminished. However, the best part about Revitol is the extraordinary ability to prevent stretch marks from occurring in the first place.

Revitol’s Active Ingredients

Squalene oil - encourages healthy skin by keeping it moist and healthy

Vitamins A and E - stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are the elements that give us new skin cells.

Vitamin D3 - helps to prevent the skin ruptures that become stretch marks and assists vitamins A and E in the production of new skin cells.

Aloe Vera - contains healing properties and has been known and utilized for centuries.

Grapefruit Seed Extracts - Strengthens the collagen and elastin found deep in the layers of the epidermis

It is the combination of all these ingredients that make the dramatic difference. When used together, these ingredients provide better protection against stretch marks than any of the creams from the past.

When used from early pregnancy on, Revitol prevents stretch marks from occurring in the first place. The few that do “pop out” are smaller, thinner and less noticeable than most stretch marks. When used after the problem occurs, it works on existing stretch marks to make them less noticeable.

Women who use Revitol praise it for the excellent results it gives them. Testimonials about this powerful cream are plastered all over the internet. If stretch marks are an issue for you right now or you would like information on preventing them in the first place, do yourself a favor by reading more about this amazing formula!

Cordless Hammer Drill Versus Cordless Rotary Hammer Drill

Anytime someone drills concrete, they will reach for what they call a hammer drill. But they could be talking about two totally different tools. So, when you are looking for a cordless hammer drill, you will want to know the differences.

A cordless hammer drill, usually looks like a conventional cordless drill with a three jaw chuck. Usually on the selector knob, you will see a picture of a hammer. Obviously, this is the position you would use for hammering. Cordless hammer drills accomplish hammering via gearing. These tools use a straight shank carbide tip drill bit. When you use these tools, you hear the distinctive whining sound.

These tools are excellent for drilling smaller holes,

Why I Love Clocks

My first conscious memory of a clock was after I was married and went back home for the first time. I had married the love of my life and everything was going fine – but I just wanted to go “home.” I was homesick. After being “home” for a few hours, I found myself alone just relaxing in Daddy’s black, leather recliner and drinking in the sounds/smells of “home.” Mama and Daddy had a large clock over the fireplace complete with a mesmerizing, swinging gold pendulum and rich, vibrant tones that played on the quarter hour. Nestling in that comfortable, old recliner and being quieted with the steady swing of the pendulum was soothing to the heart.

Over the years, I’ve developed a love for clocks, collected a few of them and hope to obtain more. Almost every room in the house has a special clock and each has its own unique music.

My first “real” clock was purchased unfinished and my Daddy finished it for us, which made it even more special to me. It was a 6’ Grandfather clock made of walnut with rich Westminster chimes that cheer you each 15 minutes and beautiful, deep dongs on the hour with the number of hours it happens to be. I love the music this clock makes!

A cuckoo clock was given to us from the parents of a foreign exchange student from Germany we hosted in our home for a year. He was living with us when the Berlin Wall came down. What rich memories! Every time the clock “cuckoos,” I think of him. It’s great fun to watch children when the birdie cuckoos and they try to figure out where that distinctive sound is coming from. Children are captivated trying to be looking when the little birdie pops out – reminding you of the time. When they actually “catch” him out, they are just gleeful!

My husband gave me another Grandfather clock made of oak. I’m looking at it right now. The rhythmic swing of the pendulum is almost hypnotic. It’s a little quieter than the original one, but still relaxing with chimes and dongs on the hour.

Just recently I purchased a beautiful wall clock for $7.42 (all the money I had at the time) at a local yard sale. After cleaning it up, adding a fresh battery, it sounds beautiful – even though it may need tuning up a little. This purchase made my day!

My husband recently asked me why I loved clocks so much. I didn’t have an immediate answer, I just love them. But the longer I thought about it, I understand a little better. We have several clocks in our home and I have them all set just a minute different that the rest, so I can hear each one’s distinctive music. (We won’t discuss how this drives my husband crazy.)

Clocks remind me that time is fleeting! There are a variety of clocks (cat clocks that meow; bird clocks that chirp; dog clocks that bark; Christmas clocks that play a different carol each hour, etc.) – just like people. Each person has his unique gifts/talents. The people in our lives enrich us with their own experiences and personalities. Some folks stay in our lives a little longer than others, but each one adding their music to our day.

Clocks gently remind us that our time is precious but limited, so it’s imperative to make the most of every day. Frequently I ask God to help me bless someone today or show me someone I can be kind to. Although I’m not sure what kind of music my life brings to others, I hope it is one that brings peace and comfort to a restless soul…much like my folks’ fireplace clock.

Carhartt Work Pants - 4 Features That Make Them Special

When you are looking for a special pair of work pants, your best bet is to look in the Carhartt work pants line for the quality construction, up to date design and some special features that have become standards in the industry. Carhartt was the first to use the reinforcing rivets at key stress points, for example, but many jeans designers today use the concept of rivets to strengthen key points or just to add decorative touches and add reinforcing as well. Carhartt work pants are great for clothing on the job, but some of the same features make these pants perfect for other activities as well.

Composition

The composition of Carhartt work pants is cotton canvas. Not just any canvas, but heavyweight canvas at 8.5 ounce weight. The cotton fiber is one hundred percent ring spun which means that the threads are spun on a ring, rather than on the more current method which is open ended. The ring spun denim generally produces a softer more pliable product. The resultant cotton canvas is considered more desirable than the more uniform modern day products. Carhartt work pants have been providing the highest in comfort levels for outdoor workers for more than a century. The comfort of these garments means they can be worn when you are just out to have fun as well.

Stitching

Carhartt work pants have hard working stitching including triple stitching on all of the major seams on the pants. You don’t need to worry about any of these seams giving way. Triple stitching is better than the industry standard so that you can rest assured that you won’t have seam failure due to wear. Special stitching at pockets and other key stress points makes the Carhartt work pants stronger and more durable than any others on the market.

Pocket Reinforcement

Reinforcing key stress points is one of the selling points that make Carhartt work pants so successful from a market segment standpoint. The pockets for Carhartt work pants are large enough to be able to carry items in your pocket. There is careful sizing of the side pockets and the pocket for carrying your cell phone. The side pockets are somewhat larger than those of the competitors which allows you to carry crucial items in your pocket without the danger of losing them as can happen with competitors’ products. Where needed, there are rivet reinforcements to provide even more strength to the pocket application.

Boot Cut

Another feature that makes Carhartt work pants special is their wider pant leg. The wider cut, amounting to a full 19″ size means that the work pants will fit easily over the work boot worn by many people when they perform an active job. Boots are a safety feature, but pants that fit snugly over the boot means there is no excess fabric to catch on equipment and yet the pant legs are wide enough in order to fit over the boot easily. The cut of the pants is extra bonus you find when you purchase these garments.

Carhartt Work Pants are great for on the job durability or even the casual night out. Check out our entire Carhartt Pant line at http://www.workwear1.com
